Geoffrey Leckie

Born in Buffalo, New York, in 1949, and subsequently raised in Morris County, New Jersey, Geoffrey Leckie studied architecture at the University of Virginia. He eventually abandoned architecture to concentrate on painting, studying at the Art Students League in Manhattan. Painting has taken him around the country as well as around the world. His work is characterized by an overwhelming interest in the effects of light and atmosphere, where a personal impressionistic response to the variety of his landscapes relies, not so much on architectural accuracy as on his poetic and imaginative interpretation of his subject.

His work reveals the influence of Frank Mason, with whom he studied in New York, as well as George Inness and James McNeil Whistler. He exhibits regularly throughout the U.S. and in Europe. His work can be found in public and private collections worldwide.
